Mopar Performance offers a kit to install the fuel injection onto older 4.2L’s, but a 4.5L displacement may be beyond the capacity of the injectors and the throttle body. It makes more power than the 318 and it's a lot cheaper to build than a 340. It's also the easiest to find. When building a stroker engine, most engine builders recommend the use of a longer connecting rod to improve the rod angle when using a long-stroke crankshaft. On most Ford and GM small-block engines, the stock connecting rods are short, at about 5.400" to 5.700" long.
